Pioneering Spirit
“Investing in promising techniques means acknowledging limits of existing practices — seeing further, innovating, experimenting tirelessly.” — Dr Gaston
In 1994, our team helped shape laparoscopic urologic procedures in France, launching the era of minimally invasive surgery. In 1997, Dr. Gaston performed the first radical prostatectomy in France using laparoscopy. Since 2005, the clinic has developed robot-assisted surgery (Da Vinci) and shared its post-operative benefits widely. In 2024, the team added the Hugo robot and now operates on both Da Vinci and Hugo platforms. :contentReference[oaicite:2]{index=2}
In September 2024, Dr. Gaston performed a remote radical prostatectomy during an EAU event (operation from Bordeaux, patient in China).
Reputation
The Group is recognized among Europe’s leading centers for minimally invasive, laparoscopic and robotic urology. For several consecutive years, it ranked first private center in France for prostate and kidney cancer care (Le Point, 2025) and appears among top positions in international rankings (Newsweek, 2025)

Technical Platform
Comprehensive management of urologic diseases — BPH, incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, stone disease, neuro-urology — with advanced equipment: four Da Vinci robots, Hugo robot, lasers (Holmium, GreenLight, Thulium) for BPH in short stay/ambulatory settings, MRI-fusion biopsy systems (Koelis, ExactVu), and HIFU (Ablatherm) for prostate cancer.
Excellence in Patient Care
Availability, attentive listening and continuity of care: cases are discussed collegially, each patient has a dedicated contact at any time, and minimally invasive techniques reduce pain, blood loss and scar size, enabling faster return to daily life. Multidisciplinary meetings may involve partner centers such as Institut Bergonié (Unicancer) to refine treatment plans
“Talk — as long as needed. Understanding what patients feel is essential; healing follows words.” — Dr Jean-Luc Hoepffner
Teaching & Continuous Training
Since 1994, surgeons from GUSA have taught mini-invasive and, since 2005, robotic techniques. They regularly serve as expert faculty at international congresses and training schools (e.g., IRCAD in France, Asia, Brazil), notably in laparoscopy, robotics and laser surgery for BPH. The Saint-Augustin center is now nationally and internationally recognized for technical training in urology.
